History of Palermo
The origin and why the name Palermo neighborhood is not entirely peaceful. While some wonder if they have any relationship with the Italian city, the possible origins of the name will be searchable in Don Juan Dominguez Palermo, who in the early seventeenth century was the owner of the land.
 
As was common to call the places they had churches or saints worshiped, other neighbors say that in fact the neighborhood is so because in a chapel an image of San Benito of Palermo was venerated, so the faithful used to say they were going to see Palermo. Undoubtedly, this was the neighborhood of the restorer of the laws, Don Juan Manuel de Rosas. At first, he was the owner of much of this land (some 540 blocks). It was in 1836 when he became the privileged owner of these beautiful places, where he decided to build his official residence in what is now the current avenues Sarmiento and Libertador.
 
But history has its twists, and after the defeat of February 3, 1852 in Caseros, Justo José de Urquiza, Victor General, occupied the residence would then host the School of Arts and Crafts, the Military College the Naval Academy.

The oldest part of Palermo is known precisely as old Palermo and its dimensions come from behind Plaza Italia, to the southeast. He had early arrabalero, worthy of tango lyrics and pen of writers like Evaristo Carriego and Jorge Luis Borges.
 
In Palermo also we found a beautiful place in the area surrounding the Church of the Holy Spirit, or "La Guadalupe". In front are the Zoo, now known as the Buenos Aires Zoo, in the Avenues Sarmiento and Las Heras. It was created on the initiative of President Sarmiento. Since the concession to private hands, this legendary Buenos Aires Zoo regained the luster of yesteryear with professional care of individuals that inhabit it. Among the great features that you can visit, are the white tigers, of which fewer than 200 copies worldwide. Besides the impressive box varieties of races that live in places where their natural habitat is recreated, the local zoo also has specially designed as being gothic pavilion of the bears, the French palace with its slate roof that houses lions or spaces 1000 square meters, which play a Bombay temple where obviously different dwell Indian elephants.
 
In one of the most important places of the City of Buenos Aires, on Sarmiento and Santa Fe avenues, stands the legendary Rural Society.
